- How much time does it take?
You can be a member with a commitment of only 8 hours a week, some monthly meetings and some monthly trainings.
- What does it cost to be a member?
There is no cost to the member for joining, all necessary materials and training are provided at no cost to you.
- Are there any special physical requirements?
The company will pay for an initial physical for you as well as annual physicals. There are no extraordinary physical demands placed on members.
- Do I need to have any medical background or training?
No prior medical background is required. CPR and first aid training is provided to all members and more advanced training is provided to those who wish to pursue it.
- What if I get hurt while on an ambulance call?
All members are covered by the NY State disability program and additional disability insurance is provided by the company at no cost to the member.
- Do I need to live in East Moriches to be a member?
Our district covers East Moriches and parts of Manorville and Eastport. You do not need to live in East Moriches if you want to become a member.
- What is LOSAP?
LOSAP is a retirement program funded by NY State to reward volunteers for the time they devote to their volunteer activities. Details are available if you request it. Full details are provided to members.
- How do I get started?
If you are over aged 18 and would like to become a member, please click here. If you are less than 18, but over the age of 12 and would like to become a junior member, please click here. In detailed information will be provided at the time of the interview or upon request.
